About this position

Responsible for operating a tractor and related equipment to cut and maintain grass along the levees and flood protection structures on the East Bank of the Mississippi River, which consists of Orleans, St. Bernard, and Jefferson Parishes. This ensures safe and effective vegetation control to support flood risk management, visibility, and accessibility of levee systems.

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Levee Foreman A, Levee Foreman B, Levee Foreman C, Maintenance Superintendent, Operations and Maintenance Coordinator or the Maintenance Regional Director.

• Cutting and trimming grass within the Flood Protection Authority right-of-way, including, but not limited to, flood walls, poles, dead-end streets, and trees.
• The incumbent will be required to use gas- or diesel-powered tools and cutting equipment.
• The incumbent will operate one or more of the following types of equipment as a primary, regular, and recurring function of the job, including but not limited to, weed eaters, pole saws, chainsaws, lawnmowers, edgers, loppers, hand pruners, and self-propelled cutting equipment.
• Performs miscellaneous labor duties such as cleaning of Maintenance yard. Washing vehicles, trimming trees, graffiti removal and sand bagging where problems develop.

Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
