Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team in Georgia in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is well suited for someone who takes pride in accuracy, can manage a steady invoice volume, and enjoys building strong working relationships with vendors and internal partners. The role focuses on maintaining an efficient payables cycle, supporting financial close activities, and helping uphold sound accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

- Handle the end-to-end accounts payable workflow, from receiving invoices through final payment and account reconciliation.

- Review invoice details for correct coding, required approvals, and complete backup documentation before processing.

- Match invoices against purchase orders and receiving records to confirm accuracy prior to payment.

- Investigate exceptions, resolve billing issues, and respond to vendor questions in a timely and thorough manner.

- Maintain vendor profiles, including tax forms and payment information, with careful attention to accuracy and compliance.

- Coordinate scheduled payment runs using ACH, wire transfers, and checks while meeting established deadlines.

- Reconcile vendor statements, track open items, and follow up on discrepancies to keep accounts current.

- Support month-end activities by preparing accruals, account reconciliations, and related documentation for the accounting team.

- Partner with purchasing, receiving, and other internal departments to address payment concerns and improve process efficiency.

- Provide accounts payable records and supporting materials for audit requests and ensure adherence to internal controls. Requirements - 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Hands-on experience processing invoices, assigning account codes, and managing high-volume payables activity.

- Working knowledge of three-way matching and invoice approval practices.

- Experience with ACH transactions, check runs, and other standard payment methods.

- Familiarity with Sage Intacct or comparable accounting software.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies accurately.

- Effective communication skills for working with vendors and cross-functional internal teams.
