Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job SummarySupports the day-to-day operations of chemicals and hazardous waste management programs. Responsibilities include maintaining chemical inventory, conducting facility and equipment inspections, collecting waste materials, and coordinating proper disposal to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, best practices, and University policies.
Responsibilities- Assist in collection and disposal of chemicals, biological and universal waste materials
- Prepare materials for waste shipments, including documentation and labeling
- Inspect and assess waste accumulation areas for compliance
- Assist in coordinating hazardous wastes pick-up and disposal by approved vendors
- Maintain chemical and hazardous material inventories across the campus
- Assist in providing training to end users on proper handling of waste and chemicals
- Assist in response to hazardous materials incidents such as spills or leaks
- Conduct inspections of emergency eye wash and safety showers
- Assist in maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets
- Assist in general health and safety tasks, as part of EHS team
- Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. - Other
Required Qualifications:
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license. - Required Experience:
Three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act training (RCRA).
- Hazardous materials transportation training (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Waste Operations and Emergency Response training (HAZWOPER).
- Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
- Abilities:
Able to wear appropriate protective equipment including respirator; able to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. - Knowledge:
Knowledge of universal and hazardous waste rules and regulations. - Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; strong attention to detail and follow up skills; demonstrated customer service skills and professional phone/email etiquette.
