Lead Civil/Structural Engineer, P.E., $50M+ Heavy Industrial Projects
ESI Inc. of Tennessee is seeking a talented Lead Civil/Structural Engineer, P.E., to join our team in Kennesaw, Georgia. This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Focus), a P.E. License, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industrial structural design. The ideal candidate will have the desire and skill set to transition into the Manager of the Civil/Structural Engineering and Design Department.
Responsibilities:
- Design steel buildings and equipment support frames, platforms, hangers, guides, and concrete foundations and slabs for steam and power generation projects.
- Maintain a structural engineering design technical library with all applicable design standards, codes, and practices to ensure all designs meet current codes and practices.
- Investigate and analyze the applicability of new design methods, technologies, standards, and practices to ensure ESI designs remain current and competitive.
- Assist in estimating and providing man‑hour budgets for structural engineering design for all new projects.
- Assist in preparing the project preliminary drawing list to include the objective of each drawing and estimated engineering man‑hours each drawing at the beginning of every project.
- Assist in coordinating structural engineering with other ESI disciplines for steam and power generation projects.
- Review all project contract documents and design basis to ensure that all structural work will be within conformance of the contract documents and design basis.
- Document all design calculations and pertinent discussions with clients, vendors, subcontractors, etc. by routing copies of all items to the main company files.
- Assist in producing design drawings that are clear, concise and accurate.
- Accomplish scheduled work on‑time.
- Assist in producing project structural bid packages scope of work documents and specifications.
- Ensure that project structural bid drawings are completed in time to allow thorough checking prior to issuance to bidders.
- Review project schedule on a weekly basis to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Perform accurate material take‑offs of project structural designs.
- Review pertinent vendor drawings for errors and omissions and to ensure compliance with the contract documents and project design basis.
- Review and formulate responses or solutions to all structural field questions.
- Assist in the maintenance of structural engineering department standards and documentation manuals.
- Review and update structural CAD Standards for accuracy and constructability.
- Travel to the field as needed throughout the duration of the project.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Focus)
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industrial structural design
- P.E. License
- Capable of transitioning to the Manager of the Civil/Structural Department
- Experience designing concrete and structural steel support systems for heavy industrial projects
- Experience using AutoCAD software
- Experience performing structural analysis using STAADPro, Robot or other similar software package
