Job Summary

Provide hands‑on technical services and practical application guidance to students and faculty in an undergraduate engineering research setting. Duties require maintenance of laboratory mechanical equipment, fabrication, and support of instructional mission.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair engineering lab and machine shop equipment.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures, safety guidelines, and documentation for equipment use.
  • Assist students and faculty with fabrication of components, 3D printing, test specimens, and research parts; ensure safe practices.
  • Construct mechanical components and structures using manual/CNC fabrication and 3D printing.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and materials; determine quantities needed.
  • Operate and oversee 3D printers, CNC mills/lathes, water‑jet cutters, welders, and other equipment.
  • Recommend and specify new equipment or upgrades.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in engineering technology, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with CNC or manual machining, G‑code, fabrication, welding, and component assembly.
  • Operational knowledge of Solid Works or similar CAD software.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate in welding, CNC machining, or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in fabrication, laser/plasma cutting, press brake, and metal forming.
  • Advanced degree or certificate in engineering technology.
