Department InformationThis position requires holidays and weekends on a rotating basis and is considered essential during inclement weather.
Job SummaryPerforms routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting. Completes daily health observations, feeding, watering, and cleaning associated with laboratory species.
Responsibilities- Observe animal behavior and conditions, feed and water animals, maintain sanitary conditions, collect specimens, and assist research and veterinary personnel.
- Report clinical health observations to the Attending Veterinarian or supervisory personnel in the appropriate manner.
- Perform routine duties associated with animal care, including restraining, medicating, and cleaning.
- May assist in maintaining animal housing areas and facilities.
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: Previous experience with animal care or equivalent related experience.

Qualifications:
Undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
- Employees may be required to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously, meeting assigned deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem‑solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑up skills.
- Strong customer service skills and phone and e‑mail etiquette.

This is not a supervisory position. The position does not have any financial responsibilities, does not require driving, is considered a position of trust, does not require a purchasing card (P‑Card), and will not travel.
