This position requires holidays and weekends on a rotating basis and is considered essential during inclement weather.

Performs routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting. Completes daily health observations, feeding, watering, and cleaning associated with laboratory species.

• Observe animal behavior and conditions, feed and water animals, maintain sanitary conditions, collect specimens, and assist research and veterinary personnel.
• Report clinical health observations to the Attending Veterinarian or supervisory personnel in the appropriate manner.
• Perform routine duties associated with animal care, including restraining, medicating, and cleaning.
• May assist in maintaining animal housing areas and facilities.

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience: Previous experience with animal care or equivalent related experience.

Preferred Educational

Qualifications:

Undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.

• Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
• Employees may be required to work with, take specific precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously, meeting assigned deadlines.

• Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem‑solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
• Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
• Strong attention to detail and follow‑up skills.
• Strong customer service skills and phone and e‑mail etiquette.
