Performs activities supporting assigned, externally funded research programs (e.g., student supervision, experiment design and execution, data collection and interpretation, manuscript, and grant proposal development). Operates and manages equipment for research faculty and staff. Responsible for the oversight of operations and maintenance of assigned research laboratories (e.g., plans, organizes, and coordinates operation of the research space; interacts closely with research faculty and staff to provide training, consultation, and other services as offered by the research facility or research space).
This position is contingent on the research funding availability which is currently only secured through December 31st, 2026.
- Performs research activities supporting an externally funded research program
- Supervises the operations of the research laboratory
- Provides training to undergraduate and graduate students performing research, and to researchers (faculty and staff) on instrument operation
- Independently conducts research experiments
- Contributes to experiment design and implementation, data collection and interpretation
- Uses standard evaluation tools and methods and assists in the creation of new data collection instruments when necessary
- Supports grant writing and proposal development
- Directs the operations of a science research facility, equipment, or research space as needed
- Develops policies and procedures for scientific research facilities
- Manages equipment for the scientific research facility
- Provides assistance on experiment design, data analysis, and interpretation as appropriate
- Ensures the scientific research facility is compliant with regulatory agencies and KSU policies and procedures
- Provides the appropriate documentation to support prices for services
- Accurately compiles information for monthly billing
- Consults with users to determine their satisfaction with services provided by the scientific research facility
Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a field related to the position.
Required Experience: Prior research in a related field; supervisory experience; experience running research facility instrumentation.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience within the area of study.
