SummaryPerforms general patrol and operational police duties, such as making arrests and enforcing criminal codes and statutes, assisting with investigations, and serving as a member of special teams or task forces as requested. Provides enforcement duties involving general and criminal regulations and institutional rules and regulations to protect the safety and welfare of students, employees, and property. Serves as a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Clery Act.
Responsibilities- Provides patrol shift coverage.
- Maintains public safety by keeping order, responding to emergencies, protecting life and property, preventing crime, and performing vehicular and pedestrian traffic direction.
- Demonstrates successful engagement of the community‑oriented policing philosophy.
- Enforces all applicable codes, ordinances, laws and regulations (traffic and criminal).
- Provides aid to accident victims and other persons requiring first aid for physical injuries.
- Interviews victims, suspects, and witnesses; prepares reports that document incidents and activities, and reviews facts to determine if criminal acts or statutory violations exist.
- Testifies in court to present evidence or act as witness in traffic and criminal cases.

- High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum age of 21 years.
- Current, valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
- Successfully completed State of Georgia mandated Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) training (physically and scholastically) and must comply with all POST requirements within one (1) year of employment.
- Must maintain Georgia POST Peace Officer Basic Certification.
- May be required to obtain and maintain additional certifications related to the assignment.
- Successfully pass the Georgia POST‑mandated Physical Ability Test prior to Academy date, if applicable (only for candidates required to attend the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course).
- POST Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, or Managerial Certificate, POST Instructor Certification, POST Designated Instructor Certification, or other specialty certifications.

- Community outreach experience.
- An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
- Non‑Certified: $58,000 (approx. $27.91 per hour)
- Certified: $61,277 to $67,700 (approx. $29.46 to $32.55 per hour). Offers based on relevant experience.

Skills & AbilitiesAbility to fulfill all essential duties of a police officer; enforce Georgia laws, federal laws, and university regulations; coordinate with the public and other law‑enforcement agencies; attend training programs; use office equipment and computer software; work after hours, weekends, and holidays; physically capable of managing shifts of up to 12 hours and lifting 150–300 pounds; conduct foot patrol and respond to physical altercations.
