The Fire Alarm Technician tests, repairs, and inspects fire detection systems. He or she must provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities- Performs installation, programming, repair, testing, and inspection of fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis.
- Completes all services following manufacturer instructions, related codes/standards, and company policies and procedures.
- Schedules inspections with customers as required.
- Provides documentation of inspections for company records, customer records, authorities with jurisdiction, and any other entity required.
- Communicates discrepancies, necessary system repairs, and other important issues to the company and the customer.
- Follows up to ensure that suggested repairs to systems are performed.
- Markets EFI services to existing and potential customers.
- Trains technician trainees as assigned.
- Commits to work until obligations are met, which may result in overtime.
- Completes continuing education necessary to maintain current certifications and/or licenses as required for the position.
- Adheres to all company standards and procedures, including the Controlled Substances and Alcohol Standard.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in fire protection systems.
- Minimum Level II NICET certification in the desired field required (or the ability to obtain Level II within the first 18 months of employment).
- The equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Education, experience, and certification as specified in the job description (or equivalent combination).
- Has practical knowledge of fire protection codes and standards.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Positive and professional demeanor with the ability to handle change, resolve conflict, and solve problems as they arise with minimal direction.
- Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, work from heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas.
- Able to stand for long periods of time and to lift, crouch, reach, handle, push, and pull.
