The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, organizes and administers occupational therapy services in accordance with applicable federal, state and local standards, regulations and guidelines to ensure the highest degree of quality care. The therapist maintains accurate documentation, collaborates with all disciplines, and adheres to the professional standards of practice guidelines and the code of ethics as set forth by the state board of occupational therapy.
Responsibilities- Support Occupational/Physical Therapist Assistants by providing periodic training and guidance to meet educational needs and enhance patient care.
- Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives, preparing records and reports as required.
- Provide therapeutic procedures and a full range of therapy services to support patient referrals, ensuring safe and timely care.
- Develop realistic, documented treatment goals that satisfy the intent of referring medical staff, and prepare written treatment programs based on patient evaluations.
- Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function; instruct, motivate and assist patients in performing non‑manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily‑living activities, including the use of assistive devices such as crutches, canes and prostheses.
- Record treatment, response and progress in patient charts and/or automated systems, and instruct patients and families in home treatment procedures.
- Evaluate, fit and adjust patients’ prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications as required; coordinate treatment with physicians and other staff to integrate occupational therapy with the patient’s overall health care.
- Possess a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Possess a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by ACOTE.
- Maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Washington State.
