Hours: Variable as Assigned

Rate: $24.155 per Hour

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Must present transcripts of highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Valid Washington State RN License.
  • Ability to provide own transportation.
  • Positive evaluations and recommendations.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Must pass a basic skills test.
  • Completion of safe schools web based training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.
  • Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.

  • Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities.
  • Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with large numbers of staff and in various buildings and levels in promoting the health services program.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and work with colleagues, such as the other school district nurses and building staff.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise medication and specialized treatment, and dispense medication to students.
  • Manage and monitor diabetic students, which could include the administration of insulin as well as monitoring and adjusting insulin pumps. This includes the willingness to be trained on the operation of individual insulin pumps.
  • Maintain health records.
  • Follow health provider treatment plans. Administer emergency meds if needed.
  • Contact Emergency services if needed. (911)
  • Communicate effectively with parents and staff.
  • Willingness to learn how to enter and use the School Nurse Administrative Program (SNAP).
  • Enter Health Room visits and treatments into the online SNAP (School Nurse Administrative Program).
  • Help with screening if needed: vision, hearing, and scoliosis.
  • Coordinate health referrals with staff, student, families and community agencies.
  • Work with local community health and social service agencies to improve referral process and coordination of services for district students if needed.
  • Maintain and monitor Washington Administrative Codes (WAC) regarding current immunization standards.
  • Willingness to work with health needs of all children (i.e. bilingual, special education).
  • Willingness to work in all buildings and at all levels (Elementary, Middle School, High School).
