General Purpose

Responsible for all aspects of the store’s operations. Lead the entire operation to ensure company standards and best practices are consistently met. Staff, train, and develop the leadership team to deliver desired sales and profit results while maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. Recruit, train, and develop associates. Manage the operations of the stockroom, front end, and sales floor so new merchandise reaches the floor on time, goods are received properly, and expenses are controlled through execution of best practices and productivity.

Functions General Operating Requirements
  • Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
  • Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall performance.
  • Address any variance to company standards with an appropriate action plan, partnering with the District Manager as needed.
  • Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives.
  • Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.
  • Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting as needed.
Organizational Development
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop assistant managers, area supervisors, and non‑exempt associates.
  • Use retention tools such as incentive programs, recognition opportunities, contests, and training to reduce turnover.
  • Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, verbal and written warnings, progressive discipline, and termination when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.
  • Manage associate relations issues, consulting with the District Manager as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
Expense Control
  • Lead all expenditures to remain within budget.
  • Control payroll hours to plan, adjusting to current business trends.
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment
  • Maintain adherence to company safety policies and ensure the safety of associates and customers.
  • Ensure all associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Execute customer service programs and merchandise presentation programs through associate training and supervision.
  • Supervise and coach retail associates in providing efficient, friendly service at registers, customer service desk, fitting rooms, sales floor, etc.
Personal And Store Brand
  • Lead all store associates in, and model, a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Manage the store to ensure a clean, neat, easy‑to‑shop environment.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping with the help of contracted maintenance personnel and Ross associates.
