Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns courteously, assist guests in meeting their video gaming needs, inform about special promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply all selling behaviors during each transaction, and express gratitude to every guest.
  • Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system.
  • Answer phone calls promptly, courteously, and professionally to ensure every guest receives top‑notch service.
  • Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store, including restrooms, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Complete Omni‑Channel orders daily and safeguard company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products on the selling floor.
  • Support store management in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system; prepare closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips.
  • Check shipments for discrepancies or shortages, record them in the POS system, and report to management as needed.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
  • Visually inspect associates’ and leaders’ items at store closing or at the end of a shift.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
  • Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures; observe associate performance and provide timely feedback to store management.
Qualifications
  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
  • Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and alphabetizing skills.
  • Self‑motivation and teamwork to complete tasks timely.
  • Problem‑solving and judgment abilities.
  • Follow instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deliver bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum of 3 days per week availability.
  • Remain effective under pressure and handle stress appropriately.
  • Lift merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs. up to a minimum height of 4 feet.
  • Stand and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
