Job Summary
The Ward Clerk performs a range of clerical duties to update and organize information on the nursing units. The Ward Clerk is responsible for efficient information flow and availability of information.
Qualifications- Minimum Grade 12 or GED required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Office skills and knowledge required.
- Medical terminology and/or previous experience an asset.
- Ability to comprehend written and spoken direction and act on such in a logical and timely manner.
- Ability to greet and assist patients, families and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Must be reliable and conscientious.
- Professional and discreet in handling confidential information.
- Aligned with SLMHC values; compassion, respect, quality and teamwork.
- Acts as a resource to clinical leads.
- Answer telephone, relay messages and respond to inquiries from staff, patients and outside organizations.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Prepare and manage patients’ charts, while maintaining accurate and up to date records.
- Photocopying, faxing, and filing as required.
- Handling and delivery of mail as required.
- Rotations assigned are twelve (12) hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must adhere to organizational policies and procedures concerning cleaning, hand hygiene and the use of Personal Protective Equipment in support of Infection Control measures, and attend training when necessary.
- Meditech data entry.
$25.41 – $27.48, in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
