Description
Job Description: The Camp Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day operations of the camp, assisting with camp activities, and helping ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all clients and guests. The Camp Coordinator works collaboratively with other SLFNHA departments on events and activities conducted on camp property, including coordinating accommodation arrangements, monitoring activities and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and cultural camp protocols.
Salary Range: $62,867 to $84,442
Position Type: FT Permanent
Accountability: The Camp Coordinator is directly accountable to the Director - Anishinaabewaadiziwin.
Qualifications- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout region is an asset.
- Degree and/or diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality, Recreation, Tourism, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience acceptable to the employer
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in program coordination, administration, camp operations, hospitality, or a related environment
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activities, schedules, projects, and operational requirements in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, facilitation, and customer service skills for interacting with staff, guests, clients, and community partners
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and contribute positively within a team environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and initiative
- Strong administrative and computer skills, including experience with email, Microsoft Office applications, scheduling systems, and data entry
- Experience in maintaining records, inventories, schedules, reports, and operational documentation would be considered an asset
- Understanding of workplace Health and Safety practices and ability to promote safe work procedures
- Valid Class G driver’s licence and ability to travel as required
- Wilderness First Aid, Standard First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certification, and Boat Operator’s Licence would be considered assets; training may be provided
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
- Ability to provide a high standard of service in a professional, respectful, and culturally appropriate manner
- Ability to perform the requirements of the role on a regular basis
- Coordinates and supports day-to-day camp operations in collaboration with SLFNHA departments
- Maintains and updates camp event schedules, accommodation records, inventories, and other required SLFNHA databases and documentation
- Assists, when necessary, with the preparation and distribution of resources, schedules, and operational materials to support staff and camp activities
- Coordinates regular operational meetings and assists with communication of camp schedules, activities, and updates
- Prepare reports related to camp activities, usage statistics, accommodations, inventory, and operational requirements
- Assists in monitoring camp operations and identifying operational needs, safety concerns, or scheduling issues to appropriate personnel
- Supports the coordination of guest accommodations, and event logistics
- Assists with onboarding and orientation support for seasonal staff, volunteers, or visitors as required
- Works collaboratively with SLFNHA departments to support activities, events, and operational requirements at Onaman Ziibi
- Assists in maintaining a safe environment and supports compliance with applicable Health and Safety legislation, policies, and procedures
- Assists with the planning, coordination, and implementation of camp activities, including but not limited to fishing excursions, guiding activities, and guest services
- Reports on camp incidents, complaints, workplace injuries, Health and Safety concerns, equipment concerns, and maintenance issues…
