About the role

This position is directly responsible for leading and directing the Underground Mobile Equipment Mechanical Crews, while ensuring they work in a safe and productive manner. This role applies maintenance practices in alignment with Evolution Mining’s objectives, maintenance strategy and production goals during daily maintenance of underground mobile equipment. The role participates in implementing and executing maintenance plans in a rapidly changing underground environment.

It facilitates safety of staff, the community, and the environment, and communicates regularly about equipment performance including availability, reliability, repeated problems, and cost. The role works with the Planner, Scheduler, Reliability Engineer, and other Supervisors to solve problems. This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy.

We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is CAD $136,633 to $184,857.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the activities of multi-craft mobile maintenance crews by leading and managing the work assignments for direct reports and encouraging subordinates to set and accomplish goals.
• Set goals and objectives, and effectively manage the work performance of subordinates including cost management and control of maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with Tradespersons in the development and validation of maintenance procedures.
• Verify that work orders are completed and that follow-up data and work history are of sufficient quality, entered into SAP as needed for future data analysis.
• Review and approve: work order technician comments, daily time cards, vacation requests, accident & injury reports, and disciplinary action reports.
• Create new SAP Work Orders for corrective work or future inspections identified by crews during repairs.
• Perform job task observations and conduct planned inspections.
• Develop and manage the performance of others; extend personal technical knowledge by directing and delegating assignments.
• Support the evaluation of preventive maintenance programs and report key metrics to Management.
• Plan, prioritize and lead the execution of daily maintenance work; coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for underground mining equipment.
• Manage emergency and breakdown work and order parts or materials as required.
• Inspect and report on work performed by outside contractors and evaluate contractors and suppliers.
• Review and report on Engineering and Construction projects.
• Validate contractor safety certificates and qualifications.
• Advise the scheduler during weekly maintenance work schedule creation and participate in the schedule review meeting.
• Coordinate activities outside regular day shift hours as required (call out service).
• Implement continuous improvement in line with Reliability Engineering guidelines.
• Support engineers in documenting design changes, equipment modifications, and future job requirements.
