Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. The successful candidate will be leading a small team of professionals. Primary tasks include,oversight of the drill and blast teams, short rangeplanner, anddispatchEIT. Other tasks will include assisting with budget planning, strategic planning and managing projects for the operations, as well as technical support, coaching and mentoring to the Engineers in Training and Junior engineers to meet long-range planning objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the preparation of Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and LOM Plans
Forecast and evaluate costs, engineering, andmineplanning data.
Provide technical direction for the mine related to operations strategy and implementation.
Review and implement operational plans and design changes.
Review and action improvements to mining operation performance against plans and budget.
Prepare monthly cost and performance reports and presentations to support planning results.
Provide technical support where required.
Mentor and coach EIT’s and young engineers, performanceevaluationand supervision.
QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in mining engineeringor similar field
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and in good standing order with PEO and or eligible for membership with the PEO
- Over 7 years of experience in mine engineering in an open pit environment.
