$35.62/hr ($64,828.40 annually) Full-Time In-Person
- The incumbent is responsible for the billing and collection of property taxes and assisting with sundry accounts receivable for the Town of Fort Frances.

Direction Received- Carries out the duties and responsibilities of the position under the direction and supervision of the Treasurer.
- The incumbent is directed by provincial statute, internal financial and administrative policies, and generally accepted accounting principles.

General ResponsibilitiesTax Administration
- Maintenance of the Collector’s Roll
- Ensure transfer of assessment from Municipal Connect download to Collector’s Roll on a yearly basis
- Tax billing and adjustments
- Maintain Tax roll customers
- Perform month end procedures i.e., arrears listing, addition of interest/penalty, reminder notices for past due taxes
- Maintain written record as to response to collection letters/reminders
- May perform the duties for Sale of Land for Tax Arrears as per the Municipal Act
- Process requests for Tax Certificates
- Process applications for tax adjustments as per legislation i.e., Minutes of Settlement, Supps/Omits, Write-offs, Vacancy applications, etc.
- Process Assessment Review Board Decisions
- Set up and maintain preauthorized tax payment records
- Maintenance of property tax filing system
- Maintain tax module, including year-end close functions
Accounts Receivable
- Sundry Accounts Receivable billings, adjustments and collections
- May be responsible for maintaining A/R customer accounts and answering inquiries
- May perform month end procedures including monthly statements and reports as required
- May maintain accounts receivable module, including year end close functions
Other
- Carry out all work assignments in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures
- Provides support to other bargaining unit areas as required
- Perform any other related duties as assigned
- Demands related to rush requirements
- Muscular and sensory strain for moderate to prolonged periods of time while reviewing information and preparing reports from a seated position
- Two-year post-secondary education from a recognized institution in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Administration or a similar program of study
- Municipal Tax Administration Program Certificate (willing to obtain)
- Two to three years’ experience in taxation or equivalent
- Preference will be given to individuals with superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency using common office software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email applications.
- Experience using accounting software applications, including web-based database applications an asset.
- Ability to organize and complete work assignments with a minimum of supervision
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrates proficiency in a computerized office environment
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office; email and the Internet
- Experience interacting with and providing excellent service to the public
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn and the ability to adapt and take initiative
- Able to organize and complete work assignments under minimal supervision
- Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and prioritize with a high level of accuracy
- Successful candidate for the position will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- The incumbent works a 35-hour workweek during regular business hours
- Up to 95% of a typical workday is spent indoors, in a shared office environment
- Work outside of regular business hours may be required due to deadline requirements and uneven workload
- There is no requirement for out-of-town travel
