Location: Sioux Lookout
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Facilities Services Manager, the Building Systems Technician will work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) to support and enhance the services of the Maintenance Department, building and surrounding grounds to ensure the provision of safe, patient-centered care to our clients. The successful applicant will perform specialized maintenance and repair duties on equipment, building control, HVAC and boiler plant systems while implementing and executing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for hospital equipment.
Qualifications:
- Related Technician certification, technical training, or equivalent education and experience.
- BOMI Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain.
- Experience in general maintenance, building operations, facilities maintenance, plant operations, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, pumps, motors, boilers, plumbing, water treatment systems, building automation and electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends and on-call
Job Duties:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and repairs on building equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and building system issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain and monitor systems including HVAC, pumps, motors, boilers, steam, water, and other building equipment.
- Monitor the facility’s Building Management System (BMS), respond to alarms, and make routine adjustments to points, setpoints, and schedules within the scope of training and authorization.
- Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, mechanical, and general maintenance repairs.
- Maintain accurate preventative maintenance records and work orders.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and maintenance practices.
- Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection prevention and control requirements.
- Work cooperatively with Facilities staff, contractors, and hospital departments.
- Perform other related maintenance, building operations, and facilities duties as required.
Salary: $31.64 – $34.02; with benefits in accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement, Additional premium for evening and weekend shifts.
