REGISTERED NURSE(S) – Casual Term
Pelican Falls First Nations High School
Sioux Lookout, Ontario
Pelican Falls First Nations High School (PFFNHS) in Sioux Lookout requires Casual Registered Nurses to provide health care services and support to students attending PFFNHS. These positions will work on a “Casual” basis between Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through the school calendar. Salary will be paid hourly for time worked to a maximum of 35 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide medical health services to students at the Pelican Falls First Nations High School
- Assess medical needs of students, determine treatment plans, provide follow up support
- Refer complex needs to physician or other health professional(s)
- Administer medications, provide first aid, assist in emergency situations etc.
- Maintain/update on-site clinic and confidential student medical records
- Work in collaboration and maintain communication with other daytime nursing support
- Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming and positive environment at all times
- Prepare evaluations and summaries of students including recommendations
- Develop or assist in developing treatment plans for students
- Work closely with PFFNHS, PFC and On-Call staff to support students who are “at risk” or “in crisis”
- Ensure that daily or weekly check-ins with students are completed as required
- Participate in team meetings as available
- Liaise with other organizations, partners and/or professionals
- Respond to parent, teacher and or student inquiries
- Other duties as assigned
- Registered Nurse or Bachelor of Science in Nursing is mandatory
- Must be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Certified in CPR and First Aid
- Ability to assess and provide health care needs to students
- Knowledge and understanding of Native culture, traditions and lifestyles
- Excellent leadership, motivation, and problem-solving skills
- Fluency in Oji-Cree, Cree or Ojibway is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Able to work effectively and collaboratively with others
- Strong communication skills
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License
$40.25 to $49.50 per hour, dependant on experience
