Salary

$58,025.00 – $92,688.00 (annual). This is a national range; actual salary depends on skill, experience, and location.

Position Summary

Exercises independent discretion or judgment in handling property claims within a designated level of authority. Responsible for servicing assigned territory and may handle litigated claims.

Responsibilities
  • Contact policyholders regarding property claims within authority level; conduct investigations, interview insureds and witnesses, inspect damage, and prepare estimates.
  • Handle property claims within designated authority; set and maintain adequate reserves; review reports and records; evaluate coverage and total claim value.
  • Determine payments, issue checks or decline payment as required.
  • Document claim files and submit final report for closure.
  • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action.
  • Service assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion.
  • Interact with agents and district sales managers on mutually relevant matters.
  • Handle litigated claims, including negotiating with plaintiff attorneys or coordinating litigation with defense counsel.
  • Develop and apply a working knowledge of estimating practices and procedures.
  • Attend industry training and other sessions to stay current on policy changes or new legislation.
  • Complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire.
  • Participate on Catastrophe Team when required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of claims handling experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to receive and complete Technical Learning Center Training.
  • Preferred completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses.
Additional Experience
  • Incumbent must reside within the assigned territory or be willing to relocate.
  • Position may require catastrophe duty, including travel on short notice for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.
Designations and Licenses
  • Technical Learning Center Training completion.
  • AIC 33 and AIC 35 (preferred).
  • Other required licenses as applicable.
Physical Requirements
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ability to move over 50 lbs with lifting aid equipment (often 20-50%).
  • Driving frequent (50-80%).
  • Lifting/Moving 0-20 lbs (often 20-50%).
  • Manual keying / data entry regular usage.
