Summary

This operation is a high output operation (>95,000 ft / shift) that requires multi-tasking while the machine is in shirring mode.

Essential Functions
  • Moisturize and perforate attachments inline to the shirring section and are part of the machine operator responsibilities.
  • Input machine settings according to a work order, machine set-up sheets and any other special instructions.
  • Observe and detect deviations causing quality issues or improper functioning of the machine is required.
  • Responsible for the quality of the products produced and will perform quality checks, as required, to ensure all quality standards are met.
  • Learn and participate in machine set-ups, changeovers and other minor repairs/tasks required for this operation.
  • Track quantity of product shirred for each order.
  • Prepare and load netting and plastic overwrap onto machine as needed.
  • Use box lifting equipment to place finished goods on skids. Pack and label boxes.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Ability to read and decipher information as stated on the shop packet.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Reading and number matching skills.
  • Basic data entry skills.
  • Measurement skills (use of a ruler).
  • Prior Shirring or Machine Operating Experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to grasp bundles of product.
  • Ability to stand for extended prior of time.
    * Job is primarily performed standing
  • Lifting equipment is provided for loading and unloading rolls (average roll weight: Clip and Loop - 45lbs.; String Tie – 25lbs.).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. is required.
Environmental Conditions
  • Air-conditioned/heated facility with adequate lighting.
  • Personal protective equipment: hearing protection is required and provided.
  • Padded rubber mats are provided for comfort while standing.
