Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Painter to join our team. This role involves the preparation and application of protective and decorative coatings to metal surfaces using spray equipment and other tools. The ideal candidate has experience in automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment painting environments and a strong understanding of surface preparation, coating systems, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, grinding, masking, sandblasting, or chemical treatment.
  • Mix and apply primers, paints, and coatings using spray guns (HVLP, airless, electrostatic, etc.), brushes, or rollers.
  • Select and match paint colors and finishes to specifications.
  • Maintain and operate spray booths, ventilation systems, and other painting equipment.
  • Inspect surfaces for defects and perform touch-ups or refinishing as necessary.
  • Follow proper curing procedures and drying schedules for different paint types.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including the proper use of PPE and ventilation systems.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
  • Record materials used and maintain inventory of paints, solvents, and tools.
  • Work from blueprints, technical drawings, or work orders to meet project specifications.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or certification in industrial painting preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial, automotive, or equipment painting.
  • Familiarity with various coating systems including epoxy, polyurethane, enamel, and powder coatings.
  • Skilled in the use of spray equipment and surface preparation tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and color codes.
  • Understanding of paint mixing ratios, viscosity, and environmental controls.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in various positions (climbing, kneeling, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA safety and environmental regulations related to industrial painting.
Work Environment
  • Industrial or manufacturing facility with exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and loud noise.
  • May require use of respirators and protective gear.
