Executive Director:Cold War Veterans Memorial
Must reside within a reasonable driving distance to be onsite 3 days/week.
Position ObjectivePlan, coordinate, implement and manage all activities related to the development of the Cold War Veterans Memorial at the Pritzker Archives and Memorial Park Center, from organization launch to plan design through construction completion and opening to the public.
Essential Duties- Implement an approved selection process for the hiring of contract consultants (design, financial, fundraising, marketing, etc.) to support the project.
- Manage the design and construction teams including architects, general contractors, construction managers and other consultants to ensure adherence to project budget and schedule, cost containment and quality control. Resolve related problems and concerns.
- Conduct and arrange regular site inspections. Personally inspect active construction projects not less than two times a month.
- Work with general contractor to assure planning approval and all necessary permits are secured.
- Represent the organization and project to stakeholders and the general public. Strategize and plan outreach to garner community support for the project. Attend and participate in community and government organization meetings and events as needed.
- Seek out opportunities and partnerships to raise project visibility on a national level.
- Assist with preparation of project budget and cash flow projections. Monitor time, revenue and cost schedules.
- Research potential sources of funding; prepare and submit grant applications in order to secure funding for pre-development through public launch of Memorial.
- Prepare and present progress reports to Board, Leadership Team and others as requested.
- Develop and implement partnership plan that aligns with the Pritzker Military Museum & Library and Mission
94 Firearms Education and Training Center. - Other tasks as assigned related to planning and administration, fundraising, construction, and outreach.
- Manage transition of back‑office services from TEI post‑construction.
- Ability to plan and manage a new non‑profit organization and associated construction project. Knowledge of project management tools and principles.
- Strong analytical abilities, computation, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to make public presentations and work successfully with community groups and funders.
- Interest and knowledge of the Cold War and related history.
- Knowledge of budgets and cost management.
- Familiarity with various funding sources and application processes for non‑profits.
- Basic knowledge of construction.
- Detail‑oriented, self‑starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
- Strong computer skills in various software applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe).
- Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of two years project management experience with a non‑profit, construction or related business.
