Overall Description Of Job Scope And Responsibilities

As a Barista you would be primarily responsible for setting up and maintaining the Café. With minimal supervision, provide exceptional guest service by welcoming them and ensuring the Café is well attended at all times. You are also responsible for tracking and collecting payment for Café items from hotel guests and walk‑ins.

Relationships

This position reports to the Assistant General Manager and maintains relationships with peers across all hotel departments as well as with current and prospective guests.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Normal work hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Welcome and provide personalized service to all guests.
  • Assist guests by taking orders, suggesting daily specials, and maintaining clean tables and dining/production areas.
  • Attend to guest needs and requests promptly.
  • Be familiar with the Café’s menu items and beverage selections.
  • Know the entire property, services, hours of operation, locations, and nearby places of interest.
  • Prepare and consistently maintain the dining area and supplies in a guest‑ready atmosphere.
  • Prepare foods such as fruit, coffee drinks, and smoothies.
  • Stock coffee, juice, and soda cooler.
  • Set out/arrange food in the pastry case and inform kitchen when items need restocking.
  • Wipe spills and maintain cleanliness of all appliances, espresso machine, and counter space throughout the shift.
  • Clear and clean tables as they are vacated.
  • Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silverware prior to use.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift, practicing clean‑as‑you‑go procedures.
  • Perform any other duties related to the preparation, set‑up, and service of the Café.
  • Maintain the inventory of all products daily; take inventory twice weekly and submit completed order forms to kitchen.
  • Work with point‑of‑sale and inventory software.
  • Generate KOT (Kitchen Order Ticket), add modifiers or remarks, and handle settlements for paid items.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning checklists.
  • Assist with closing duties, including storing reusable goods, breaking down items, cleaning all equipment and areas, and returning equipment to proper locations.
  • Participate in team duties such as cleaning, side work, food preparation, and storage.
  • Close out shift by cleaning and restocking supplies for the next day or shift.
  • Solve guest issues with professionalism and maintain a hospitable attitude.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge in preparing lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, and other specialty coffees and teas.
  • Ability to create new specialty coffees and teas.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn how to prepare kitchen‑made food and assist during busy periods.
  • Willingness to work in other hotel areas as needed.
  • Food‑safety handling certificate or ability to obtain one.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Availability for 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
