Role Overview

We are looking for a fire alarm & suppression apprentice who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The perfect candidate embraces our cultural values and has a mechanical aptitude. This is a great opportunity to learn the trade and start in the fire protection industry. You will perform inspections, installations, testing, service, and repairs of fire alarm systems and engineered and pre‑engineered suppression systems, ensuring compliance with applicable life‑safety and fire‑safety requirements as mandated by standards and codes, manufacturers’ requirements, federal, state, and local ordinances, and customer expectations.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Perform installation, inspection, and testing of all types of fire alarm and engineered and pre‑engineered suppression systems at the required frequencies in accordance with NFPA codes and standards.
  • Program, test, perform final inspections, produce as‑built drawings, and provide customer training for installations. Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of systems.
  • Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with customers and pass on information to appropriate personnel for follow‑up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
  • Maintain vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion. Keep vehicle stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform the job.
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the job.
  • Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that may be required.
  • Work in compliance with the company’s safety program.
  • Perform on‑site and/or off‑site (phone) emergency troubleshooting of systems.
  • Discuss deficiencies noted with customers, explaining the problem and its resolution.
  • Work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required, with frequency varying by location.
  • Be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.
Qualifications
  • Ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic computer functions, operating systems, and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android, and Outlook, and industry‑specific devices and software.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry is beneficial but not required (entry‑level role).
