Technical Authority Manager

A leading transport and infrastructure organisation is seeking a Technical Authority Manager to lead the development, maintenance and governance of technical, safety and organisational standards within a highly regulated environment.

This role will act as the key link between the business and regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with national and international safety and interoperability requirements while driving continuous improvement across engineering and operational disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical and organisational standards.
• Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business frameworks.
• Identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on regulatory and standards matters.
• Represent the organisation with regulators, certification bodies and industry associations.
• Support technical assurance, governance and compliance across major projects.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience designing and implementing technical, regulatory, safety or assurance frameworks from the ground up.
• Full lifecycle ownership of standards, governance or compliance frameworks, not simply operating within established structures.
• Experience working within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment such as rail, transport, infrastructure, aviation, energy, defence or similar.
• Strong stakeholder management and regulatory engagement experience.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into effective organisational standards and processes.
