Skilled Groundworker

Role Overview

We are looking for experienced Skilled Ground workers to join our teams on a busy project in New Romney
. You will be specialised in setting concrete levels using laser levels, carrying out pile cut offs, constructing foundations, and delivering a wide range of external drainage and groundworks packages to specification. You will work within an established gang to deliver high-quality groundworks, including Stage 1 works, drainage systems, and infrastructure preparation suitable for road construction.

• Setting up and operating laser levels to achieve accurate concrete levels
• Carrying out pile cut offs to correct levels and specification
• Constructing and forming foundations to drawings and tolerances
• Placing, spreading and finishing concrete to required levels and falls
• Reading and working to setting out drawings and engineer instructions
• Working accurately to line and level throughout all concrete operations
• Ensuring correct preparation of formation and sub-base prior to concrete pours
• Installing domestic drainage systems, including pipe laying
• Construction of non-access manholes up to 3m deep
• Installing manhole boxes, gullies, and laterals
• Completing external drainage works to specification
• Working around and installing services (utilities) safely and correctly
• Carrying out Stage 1 groundworks including infrastructure and preparation for road construction
• Using and positioning scaffold mats (track mats) where required
• Operating plant safely where ticketed (e.g. dumper, roller)
• Working safely around live services using correct service avoidance techniques
• Carrying out daily pre-start plant safety inspections

• CSCS Groundworker card or similar qualification
• Confined Space ticket Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
• CAT & Genny Training
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Experience in drainage, including pipe laying and manhole construction
• Reliable, punctual and able to work well with other trades
• Right to work in the UK

• CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Forward Tipping Dumper
• CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Ride-On Roller
• Abrasive Wheels Training
• Face Fit Certification
• Harness Awareness Certification
• 5-10+ years of skilled groundworks experience
• Experience in road construction preparation and external infrastructure works
• Experienced working gangs / teams highly sought after
