Building Surveyor
Location:
Manchester Job Type: Full-time Hourly rate: £40-50 per hour dependent on experience. Join the Capital Programmes & Procurement service in Manchester, a key player in the city's development, ensuring that all projects are high-quality, safe, inclusive, and sustainable. We are currently seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Minor Works Team within the Capital Programmes Division. This role is crucial in delivering a variety of construction, repair, and refurbishment projects valued between £2k and £4m.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Lead the delivery of construction contracts from commencement to completion, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. Develop and review project requirements with internal clients, creating work programmes that achieve cost and quality efficiencies. Provide specialist services including Fire Risk Assessment and Principal Designer roles. Offer expertise in building surveying, mechanical and electrical design services, structural design, cost & contract management, and Construction Design Management (CDM) compliance.
Utilise AutoCAD for designing and have a strong understanding of building and planning legislation, CDM Regulations, and current Building Contracts. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
BSc in Building Surveying or a similar RICS-accredited Bachelor's degree. Competence in analysing building defects and specifying building works. Proficiency in AutoCAD and a good working knowledge of building and planning legislation. Familiarity with CDM Regulations and Building Contracts such as JCT, PSPC, and NEC3/4 TSC and ECC. Ability to manage and administer construction contracts effectively, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
