Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge? We're working with a leading rail infrastructure contractor seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team, supporting a major programme of maintenance and renewals across the South East.

The Opportunity

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of commercial and cost management across a busy portfolio of rail infrastructure projects.

Rather than focusing on claims or dispute resolution, this role centres on commercial performance, forecasting, budgeting and cost control-ideal for someone who enjoys analysing project performance, influencing delivery teams and driving commercial success.

You'll work closely with operational teams to ensure projects remain commercially on track while providing accurate reporting and valuable commercial insight.

Key Responsibilities

Manage project costs across a live programme of rail infrastructure works
Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates
Monitor budgets and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance
Assess commercial risk and cost escalation
Work closely with operational teams to gather accurate project information
Challenge where necessary to ensure robust commercial control
Support decision-making through clear reporting and financial analysis
Build strong relationships across commercial and delivery teams

What We're Looking For

You'll already be operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor-or be an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to take the next step-with experience in rail, infrastructure or major construction projects.

You'll ideally have:

5-10 years' Quantity Surveying or commercial experience
Strong cost management, forecasting and budgeting skills
Experience working under NEC contracts
Knowledge of commercial processes within construction or infrastructure

Experience with in rail infrastructure (or a similar major projects environment)
Confidence to challenge and influence operational teams
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
