An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing and innovative construction business delivering high-quality residential developments through modern methods of construction.
This role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of affordable housing, mixed-use and sustainable development projects, helping to address some of the UK's most pressing housing challenges.
You will play a key role in the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account, working closely with operational teams, designers, planners, manufacturers and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of multiple projects, providing strategic and operational support across the project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for cost management, procurement, subcontractor administration, forecasting, risk management and client reporting while helping drive commercial best practice throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
Full commercial management of projects from inception through to completion
Preparation, monitoring and reporting of project budgets and forecasts
Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
Administration of subcontractor agreements and payment processes
Valuation of completed works and preparation of client applications
Management of variations, compensation events and contractual claims
Preparation and agreement of final accounts
Identification and mitigation of commercial risks and opportunities
Support project delivery teams with commercial and contractual advice
Produce accurate monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts
Develop strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
Mentor and support junior commercial team members Requirements
Essential
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
Strong understanding of JCT contracts
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent cost planning and budget management skills
Strong commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Full UK driving licence Desirable
Experience with in residential development, affordable housing or mixed-use projects
Knowledge of offsite construction, modular building or MMC environments
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
MRICS or working towards professional accreditation
Experience working with public sector or housing association clients What's On Offer
Salary of £70,000 - £90,000 depending on experience
