Teacher Active are proud to be supporting a specialist BSL (British Sign Language) unit within a mainstream primary setting in the Medway area. We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and skilled Teaching Assistant with BSL proficiency to join a dedicated team providing high‑quality support to deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils.
The Role as a Teaching Assistant with BSL- Supporting pupils who use British Sign Language as their primary method of communication
- Assisting the class teacher with planning, resources, and classroom activities
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group support
- Ensuring pupils can access learning and communicate effectively
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive environment
- BSL Level 2 or above (essential)
- Experience working with children or young people
- A caring, patient, and proactive approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional communication needs
