Academics are working in partnership with a welcoming and nurturing Primary School in Ashford that are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their established SEN Team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional needs while working as part of a collaborative and experienced support team.

Although a mainstream primary school, the school has a strong commitment to inclusion and provides extensive support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant within the school's SEN Team, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across the school by:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
  • Delivering targeted intervention sessions to individuals and small groups.
  • Supporting pupils with ASC, SLCN and SEMH to access learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Assisting with behaviour management and promoting positive engagement in lessons.
  • Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and the wider SEN Team to deliver personalised support.
  • Supporting within the classroom when required, helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or within an SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting children with ASC, SLCN, SEMH or other additional needs.
  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
What Academics Can

Offer:
  • Competitive daily rates of pay.
  • A full-time, long-term role starting in September.
  • A genuine opportunity to secure a permanent position with the school, with successful candidates being considered for direct employment following a successful placement.
  • A dedicated Education Consultant with specialist knowledge of the Kent education sector.
  • Ongoing support throughout your placement.

If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to join a fantastic primary school where you can make a real impact within a dedicated SEN Team, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today or contact Academics to find out more about this exciting September opportunity.
