Business Development Manager – Construction and Fire Protection
Location:
Swanley, Kent / Hybrid
As the Business Development Manager, you will be at the forefront of driving growth and expanding our footprint across our different services. Reporting directly to our Commercial Director, your primary focus will be on cultivating strategic partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, and contributing to the overall success of our Construction and Fire & Security Divisions.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Strategy:
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and execute business development strategies that align with our growth objectives in the construction and fire safety sectors.
Revenue Generation:
- Drive revenue growth through effective sales and business development initiatives, meeting and exceeding targets set for our Construction and Fire & Security Divisions.
Client Relationship Management:
- Establish and nurture relationships with key clients in the construction and fire safety sectors, understanding their needs and positioning our services to meet those needs effectively.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client communications and relationship-building activities.
Market Expansion:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, markets, and partnerships to expand our presence in the construction and fire safety sectors.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, competitor analysis, and market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.
Proposal Development:
- Lead the development and submission of competitive and compelling new business proposals, responding to client requests and tenders as required.
- Collaborate with our internal teams, including operations, project management, and marketing, to ensure a seamless integration of business development activities with broader company objectives.
Strategic Networking:
- Attend industry events, conferences, and other networking opportunities to build relationships, stay informed of industry developments, and identify potential new business leads.
Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate terms and contracts with clients and partners, ensuring favourable outcomes for the business, while maintaining positive relationships.
Performance Metrics:
- Measure and report on the success of business development activities in the construction and fire safety sectors.
Budgetary Oversight:
- Contribute to the development and management of budgets related to business development activities, ensuring optimal financial performance and value.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a business development role within the construction or fire protection (or similar) sectors.
- Strong understanding of industry trends, regulations, and client needs in these sectors.
- Demonstrable ability to develop and execute successful business development strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with a track record of building and maintaining client relationships.
- Results-oriented with a proven ability to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Flexibility to travel as needed to support business development.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in business development or a related field.
- Previous experience in negotiating contracts within the construction or fire safety sectors.
- Familiarity with industry-specific considerations such as health and safety or fire safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of project management principles and experience working with a geographically-dispersed client base in the construction and fire protection sectors.
