The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.

The Field Testing Technician is responsible for field testing activities including testing, reports, and maintaining client relationships. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in building products testing.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage ranges from $25.00–$30.00 per hour. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek offers medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation and PTO, and tuition reimbursement.

What you’ll do:

  • Carry out field testing on fenestration products (windows, curtain walls, storefronts, etc) in accordance with the relevant AAMA/ASTM standards
  • Document testing with data sheets and photos
  • Coordinate with the report writer to complete field test reports in a timely manner
  • Ensure project documents are maintained properly in the company database
  • Monitor field testing supply levels and coordinate ordering supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • High School or GED required, Associates Degree preferred
  • Construction or carpentry experience preferred
  • Experience with power tools preferred
  • Experience testing fenestration products to AAMA/ASTM standards
  • Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently, occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders
  • Ability to pass federal security clearances (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required)
