Service Technical Training Instructor

Join to apply for the Service Technical Training Instructor role at Kia America. Under the supervision of the Training Center Manager, the instructor improves dealership technician vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First‑Time performance through the effective delivery of performance‑based technical training courses. These courses are delivered in training centers or via distance learning.

Primary Responsibilities
  • 1st Priority – 65%
    Prepare for and facilitate the delivery of technical training courses to improve vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First‑Time performance. Monitor classes to ensure safe work practices are followed at all times. Administer participant enrollment processes and maintain course completion records.
  • 2nd Priority – 10%
    Prepare the training center, vehicles, and tools/equipment prior to course delivery. Return the learning environment to its original state after training. Coordinate, administer, and deliver distance learning.
  • 3rd Priority – 10%
    Maintain inventory, control, usage, and maintenance of all training center resources, including vehicles and service tools. Ensure the training center meets safety, condition, and maintenance standards.
  • 4th Priority – 10%
    Participate in curriculum development as a subject matter expert. Review draft materials, validate content, ensure technical accuracy, and participate in training course pilot and Train‑The‑Trainer sessions.
  • 5th Priority – 5%
    Continuously improve automotive technical and facilitation skills to meet or exceed Kia University standards.
  • Personally Performed Duties
    • Facilitate performance‑based training courses.
    • Conduct training courses at the training centers or via distance learning.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications / Education
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
    • Automotive Technology degree preferred.
    Job Requirements
    • Overall Related Experience
      • Strong working knowledge and experience delivering performance‑based technical training curriculum.
      • Working knowledge of dealership service operations with technician work experience preferred.
    • Directly Related Experience
      • 5+ years teaching experience in a technical (automotive preferred) environment at high school, college, adult education, or manufacturer/distributor level.
      • 3 or more years experience in the automotive industry preferred.
    • Other
      • ASE Master Automobile Technician (A1–A8), Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification (L1), Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification (L3).
      • Valid driver’s license and responsibility record meeting KUS criteria.
      • Ability to work additional hours outside normal business hours, including weekends or holidays.
      • Occasional domestic and/or international travel required.
    Specialized Skills And Knowledge Required
    • Strong communication and training facilitation skills using adult learning techniques and performance‑based methodologies.
    • Ability to analyze vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic strategies with moderate complexity and deliver training courses with moderate supervision.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with distance learning platforms.
    • Prioritization and completion of work assignments within given schedules while maintaining high service levels.

    $74,859.00 – $97,308.00
