Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
Overview
Power Light was co-founded by our CTO, Tom Nugent, and Dr. Jordin T. Kare to change how the world distributes power. Our team has set world records for beaming power over light and has won NASA project awards. We are developing products to meet Kilowatts over Kilometers needs across multiple industries beyond traditional copper wires.
At Power Light Technologies, we look for people who are humble, hungry, and smart. We value academic chops (especially for this position) and are unfazed by equations, analysis, technical papers, and mastering something new. Our culture emphasizes urgency, accountability, teamwork, and a healthy sense of fun and science. We show up prepared, engage in healthy debate, embrace deadlines, and create an energizing workplace.
We hire hands-on tinkerers who love to make things work and provide a fantastic lab to explore ideas. Some contributors have previously invented products or launched successful companies. Successful team members are not deterred by extremely challenging, first-of-a-kind problems; they experiment, fail-and-learn quickly, and master their explorations.
We hire professionals who know their craft, including designing boards, assemblies, optical chains, code, and processes for field-ready, well-documented products and systems.
Power Light is building laser power beaming solutions to transform how energy is delivered—from the depths of the ocean to craters on the moon. Our team of applied scientists, engineers, and technicians is turning science fiction into reality.
A career here means you will interact with the world s leading experts in laser power beaming. Join our team to help us “make a dent in the universe” and revolutionize energy distribution.
