Varela Engineering and Management is a Spokane-based company committed to the communities we serve in Eastern Washington. In an era where small engineering firms are succumbing to buy-outs and consolidation by private equity investment firms, we take pride in our commitment to maintain our independence and keep all the decision making right here with the people you work with. As a colleague from a recently-acquired engineering firm told us, “We used to be an engineering company trying to profit;
now we’re a profit-driven company trying to engineer.” At Varela, we do engineering. Our owners are engineers and project managers, not investors. We don’t see employees as profit‑producing widgets. We value individual growth and want our engineers to work within multiple disciplines from project to project. Because we value relationships, we enjoy working with each other and with our clients for the long-term.
We are currently seeking mid-level civil engineers to join our team. We have open positions for engineers specializing in drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation infrastructure. We always watch for outstanding people to join our team. Some exceptional team members came along unexpectedly when we weren't even looking. At Varela, we understand that every engineer has unique interests. Here, we try not to confine team members to a single specialty;
instead, most team members contribute to projects based on their passion and expertise.
