Job Description

Position Summary
:

Reworks and refurbishes wood crates using diagrams, cut sheets and power tools as a production team member to meet customer specifications for quality and on‑time delivery. Uses crate labels and computer system to organize inventory. Responsible for logging in and out of jobs in Ops Center (ERP system) and following production schedules. Responsible for following safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Specification Checks
    • Determine if any repairs, adjustments or other refurbishment work needs to occur by visually inspecting wood crates.
    • Use tape measure to ensure the measurements match the cut sheet up to 1/8 inch.
    • Able to read, interpret, find and report possible cut sheet and/or stenciling errors.
  • Records and catalogues information on crate labels, may include basic data entry.
  • Use forklifts to move and organize crates, as well as unload and load trailers, as needed.
  • Wood Crate Refurbishment and Repair
    • Repair damaged, worn, or illegible parts and stenciling on 'recycled' Trans Pak crates.
    • Safe use of power tools such as nail guns, staple guns, power drills, grinders and hammers to build various sized wood crates. Safe ladder use required when assembling caps of crates.
    • Use production software and other site‑specific production line paths to track jobs.
    • Bases or skids for crates may need to be assembled on the ground—requiring crouching, kneeling and use of heavy 3.5‑inch nail guns weighing up to 20 lbs.
    • Using adhesives to apply foam to wood crates upon crate specifications.
  • Safe and Efficient Facility Team Member
    • Address and report all equipment defects or maintenance needs to maintain safe and efficient use. Follow all procedures, policies and know the equipment before using it.
    • Speak up when observing something that may be unsafe or someone performing unsafe acts.
    • Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures.
    • Work together with other team members to accomplish tasks safely in a fast‑paced production environment.

Marginal Functions:

Housekeeping such as sweeping and disposing of scrap foam/lumber or other miscellaneous items.

Perform other related work as assigned.

Education / Knowledge / Skill Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in carpentry, construction or related experience with power tools required.
  • Basic computer skills needed to log in and out of jobs with employee identification number.
