Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M.–2:30 P.M. (1st Shift)

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day with the following shifts: 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday–Friday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.).

Job Summary

This position is a Chrome Plating Operator in our Chrome Plating department. The operator processes parts through the processing tanks and performs operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. All plating operators are required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program.
* The program requires an initial drug test, including a screen for THC, and quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other operators and department leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Follow technique cards, customer purchase orders, and instructions from other operators and department leads; legibly sign off on work once completed and after operator self‑verification inspection.
  • Perform a general review of paperwork and conduct operator self‑verification inspection to ensure all prior operations were completed; notify supervisor and quality assurance of any errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations, including mechanical or chemical cleaning; use proper tooling and fixtures when applicable.
  • Maintain knowledge of pre‑ and post‑cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Familiarize with quality assurance requirements and rework procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawing notations.
  • Follow safety precautions to avoid preventable injury to self and other personnel.
  • Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Pass a pre‑employment and annual physical Chromium exam and spirometry exam; ability to wear a respirator.
  • May need to participate in annual hearing conservation testing and eye exams.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, and other PPE as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
  • Self‑starter who can work independently, as part of a team, and with customers (both internal and external).
  • Excellent accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems arising in this position.
  • Ability to learn and use Lean tools and techniques to solve problems.
  • Maintain a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Read, write, communicate in English, and perform basic math calculations.
  • Must satisfy U.S. export control regulations and be authorized to work in the U.S.; non‑U.S. persons require an export license.

Education / Previous Experience Requirements

  • 1–2 years in an aerospace and/or manufacturing production environment (preferred).

  • Ability to lift (occasionally): floor to knee 114 lbs., waist to waist 63 lbs., floor‑to‑knee‑to‑waist 75 lbs., waist‑to‑shoulder 30 lbs.
  • Ability to carry 63 lbs. (occasionally).
  • Ability to push/pull 59 lbs. (occasionally).
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently.
  • Ability to sit occasionally.
  • Ability to reach from the shoulder and overhead occasionally, and from the waist frequently.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl occasionally.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull frequently.
  • Ability to pivot, twist, pinch occasionally.
  • Ability to grasp frequently.
  • Ability to see/hear/feel constantly; hearing protection may be required when working in the area.

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal‑finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions.
