Title: Aerospace Shot Peen Inspector

Schedule: 2nd Shift;
Training on 1st
Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m.
- 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m.
- 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m.
- 6:30 a.m.)
Employees in this position shot peen and glass bead peen parts, including automated, manual and I.D. peening and inspection in preparation for plating and other coatings. The individual in this role will be considered a trainee and are required to pass a written and practical examination for certification and an initial and annual Industrial Eye Exam in order to process work independently in the department.
On the job training is provided and trainees are given ample time to prepare for certification exams. Shot Peen Inspectors are required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. The Shot Peen Inspectors perform operations in accordance with Military, Industry and OEM specifications.
* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.
Responsibilities- Work closely with experienced Shot Peen Inspectors to complete work and prioritize tasks for On-Time delivery.
- Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders and drawings, and instructions from experienced Shot Peen Inspectors; apply maskants as required and perform fadeout peening.
- Prepare parts prior to operations; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
- Legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
- General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
- Knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
- Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
- Be familiar with engineering drawing notations regarding shot peening.
- Be familiar with the safety precautions & know how to avoid injury to personnel.
- Other duties, including support of the Abrasive Blast area, as assigned.
- Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
- Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.
- Ability to pass a written and practical test that covers surface condition requirements, operating procedures, and inspection techniques. Certification required after successful completion of training and testing in the qualifications.
- Required to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing and Eye Exams.
- Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.
- 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment a plus.
