Base pay range$37.00/hr - $48.00/hr
Position SummaryFunctions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team under the direct supervision of a nurse, by implementing and supervising nursing services in the medical detoxification and residential programs. This position supports and promotes a recovery-oriented, person-centered treatment experience by participating in treatment planning, documentation and implementation, milieu management and crisis de-escalation.
ScheduleDay Shift, 0.9 FTE 36 hours a week.
Schedule:
Thursday, Friday, Sunday.
- Administer drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law.
- Complete other tasks within the scope of licensed practical nurses and the program services and procedures.
- Pre-screen new patients for appropriateness for admission, including TB screening.
- Obtain physical assessment data and health history.
- Inventory and care for patients’ personal possessions.
- Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established by medical staff and nursing leadership.
- Record patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure.
- Actively and compassionately interact with patients to encourage engagement in treatment after completion of detoxification.
- Maintain a safe environment applying principles of medical asepsis and applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.
- Attend regularly scheduled detox staff meetings.
- Follow all policies and procedures with regard to patient information protection, including alcohol-drug patient confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
- Attend training as required by agency.
- Maintain and demonstrate a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- High School Diploma
- Current licensure in Washington State as Licensed Practical Nurse
- Maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s license at all times
- BLS certified
- A compassionate understanding of chemical dependence as a disease
- Preference to persons in recovery from chemical dependency
- Experience in detoxification services
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of substance abuse, knowledge of withdrawal symptoms and knowledge of community resources related to addiction medicine required
- Ability to work with addictive clients in a community health setting is essential
- Ability to demonstrate special competencies and skills in substance abuse/dependence/opioid treatment, women, urine screens and phlebotomy
- Pass required WA State background checks
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of substance use disorders
- Knowledge of withdrawal symptoms
- Knowledge of community resources related to addiction medicine

Direct nursing care requires the ability to lift, push, pull, twist, stoop, lift up to 50lbs without assistance. Most work takes place in usual office working conditions, where the noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises. Perform duties of a nurse as needed, which will include exposure to hazardous materials (such as body fluids, needle sticks).
