Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 5358)
Join Game Stop as an Assistant Store Manager and help deliver exceptional gaming experiences in a dynamic retail environment. The role provides close supervision to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders while coordinating all aspects of store operations with minimal supervision.
EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns quickly, recommend items, and apply all selling behaviors during every transaction.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual merchandising, operational initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system and deliver top‑notch service.
- Manage guest communication by answering phone calls and escalations in a timely, professional manner.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards.
- Train and supervise Store Associates on policies, procedures, sales techniques, and guest service expectations.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure all associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance requirements before independent shifts.
- Schedule associates, ensuring compliance with labor guidelines and optimal guest service staffing.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate compensation for all hours worked.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and merchandising standards throughout the store.
- Fulfill, ship, and manage Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Implement inventory control, loss prevention, and security practices; conduct bank deposits and reconcile daily transactions.
- Oversee merchandise counts, restock shelves, and manage stockroom-to-front transfer to ensure proper product presentation.
- Inspect shipments for discrepancies, process recalls and defectives accurately.
- Maintain safety for associates and guests, reporting injuries as required.
- Maintain store documentation and records in an organized manner.
- Delegate tasks to associates in the Store Manager’s absence and supervise keyholder responsibilities.
- Adhere to all game‑stop policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of retail sales or guest service experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Extremely outgoing with strong people skills.
- Provide genuine assistance to every guest during each visit.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to achieve objectives in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectfulness.
- Operate POS computer system with basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
- Prepare required paperwork accurately.
- Follow written or oral instructions precisely.
- Handle financial tasks in accordance with company policy.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
- Adapt to stress without affecting guest interactions and solve problems creatively.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and use good judgment.
- Stand and move throughout the store for up to 12 hours per day; lift up to 30 lbs. and perform basic fine and gross motor tasks.
- On military‑base locations, acquire understanding of military ranks and insignia.
