Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short, and civil liabilities; reduce shrink and improve margins. Demonstrate Fred Meyer’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

• Detect, deter, and/or detain external theft suspects.
• Reduce customer and associate dishonesty by initiating and encouraging actions to prevent external and internal theft.
• Monitor large shrink areas in stores.
• Report incidents to the asset protection manager.
• Support customer and associate relations through communication and training.
• Provide credible court testimony.
• Identify areas of high theft and verify compliance with corporate policies.
• Promote and follow company initiatives.
• Maintain flexibility to work any shift, overtime, and weekends on a regular basis.

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
• Retail security experience and law enforcement background.
• High school diploma or GED combined with relevant education and experience.
• Minimum 18 years of age (21 in Alaska).
• Ability to pass a drug test and work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Model customer‑first behavior and a commitment to excellent customer service.
• Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
• Familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes.
