We specialize in audit, advisory, and tax services for the financial services industry across Texas. We offer the expertise of a large firm with the flexibility and personal attention of a smaller firm.
Position SummaryWe’re looking for an experienced auditor to join our team as an Audit Manager. We’re growing, and we need our team to grow with us. In this role, you’ll plan and direct engagements from start to finish, working closely with our partners and audit staff to serve our community bank and financial institution clients across Texas. You’ll have the opportunity to build deep expertise in a specialized industry, take ownership of client relationships, and help develop the next generation of audit talent at the firm.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and direct audit engagements from start to finish, often managing multiple engagements at once
- Prepare risk assessments and evaluate the appropriateness of clients’ accounting policies, methodologies, and estimates
- Research accounting, auditing, and reporting matters and develop engagement responses
- Review financial statements, related footnotes, and specialty reports (e.g., Directors’ Exams, internal audit reports)
- Document engagement findings and present findings and recommendations directly to clients
- Direct and review the work of Seniors and Audit Associates, providing feedback and mentorship
- Coordinate engagement logistics, timetables, and budgets with clients and firm personnel
- Assist with recruiting, in-house training, and performance reviews for audit staff
- Participate in business development, leveraging your professional network and industry expertise to help the firm identify new opportunities
- Stay current on changes in accounting and auditing standards, regulations, and industry trends, and share that expertise with clients and the team
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 5+ years of audit experience in public accounting
- CPA license required
- Strong command of US GAAP and GAAS
- Sharp analytical and critical-thinking skills — you don’t just find the numbers, you understand what they mean
- A confident communicator, both in writing and in person, with clients and your team alike
- Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, and take ownership of engagements independently, with limited oversight
- Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and reviewing the work of junior staff
- Willingness to travel to client sites across Texas
- Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship
- Preferred: financial institution (bank) audit experience
- Preferred: experience with Pro System Engagement and/or Knowledge Coach
