Schedule:
Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
Pay: $70,000-$72,000
The Nemasket Group is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and collaborative Senior Accountant to join our Finance Department. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial health of our mission-driven nonprofit organization by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial operations and reporting.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant will lead the monthly close process, prepare financial reports, support annual audits, manage expense allocations, reconcile accounts, and help strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the monthly accounting close process
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial schedules
- Manage expense allocation methodologies and reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analyses
- Support annual audits, tax filings, and compliance activities
Review payroll-related accounting activity - Cross-train and provide backup support for accounts receivable and billing functions
- Develop and improve accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Quick Books, Paychex, and other financial systems preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
