PATIENT REGISTRATION RECEPTIONIST-SOM (HUNTSVILLE) - ( T239715 )
DescriptionThe University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Huntsville Med-Psychiatry Pgm, is seeking a Patient Registration Receptionist-SOM. The Receptionist supports a busy outpatient psychiatry clinic, performing the full scope of duties to include: greeting patients, checking patients in and out, collecting copays, assisting with referrals, answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, and updating patient data in EMR.
General ResponsibilitiesGreets and registers patients in the clinic. Schedules appointments and tests. Answers phones. Prepares orders, distributes patient charts and updates patient information. Prepares and collects charge tickets, balances monies collected and prepares daily activity report. Acts as first point of contact for patients. Provides clerical support and services to staff as needed and assists patients with any needs they may have.
Responds to the needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly Range
: $15.00 - $17.00
High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience required.

Skills:
Prior clerical/front office experience in a medical environment. Ability to input data and utilize an electronic medical record and scheduling system and/or ability to learn. Experience scheduling patients. Experience with patient referrals preferred.
Soft Skills:
Ability to work well in a fast-paced clinic. Strong customer service skills. Dependability and a can-do attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
