ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for: Trains and supervises an assigned group of camp counselors. Plans, coordinates, and directs counselors' functions within the camping program. Ensures the quality of programs and safety of counselors and youth at all times during camp. Provides guidance and role modeling to counselors and ensures the safety and positive experience of counselors and campers. Plans, implements, coordinates, and supervises an assigned group of children and youth participating in a Christian Camp.
Ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations at all times. Provides faith-based guidance and role modeling to campers. Participates alongside campers during camp worship meetings and times of prayer. Leads devotional activities and faith-based songs with campers and supports the seeker’s ministry.
- Performs ministry functions such as presenting approved devotional material to campers, praying with a camper, or leading in Christian songs, etc.
- Supervises and organizes an assigned group of Camp Counselors during scheduled and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
- Reviews and follows up on reports submitted by the Counselors (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.); provides a summary of occurrences to the ADYS/Camp Director. Escalates major issues to the Camp Director immediately.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid.
Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
Some physical requirements of the Camp Head Counselor position include endurance, including climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required for manipulating activities.
Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours, delivering a program at the facility.
Operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.

What We Are Looking For In You- Six months’ experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred, OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
