We turn messy news data into products people query every day: an API, dashboards, and docs. Your job is to make those surfaces clear, fast, and honest. As an early designer you would own real problems end to end, from first sketch to shipped screen, with a lot of trust and little process.
About News MeshNews Mesh turns the world's news into clean, structured, real-time data. We ingest thousands of sources continuously, enrich every article with category, topics, people, and country relevance, and serve it through an API used by developers and, increasingly, by AI agents that discover and pay for it on their own. We are a small, senior team, and the work is measured by one thing: whether the data is right, current, and easy to use.
Whatyou'll do
- Design flows and interfaces for our API, dashboard, and documentation
- Turn complex data problems into simple, usable screens
- Prototype, test with real users, and iterate quickly on what you learn
- Own the craft: type, spacing, and interaction that make a product feel right
- Work directly with engineers to ship, not just hand off mockups
- A portfolio that shows clear thinking, not just polish
- Comfortable in Figma and modern prototyping tools
- Able to reason about real product problems, not only visuals
- New grad or early career; a link to your work beats a resume
- Some front-end sense (HTML and CSS) so you can prototype closer to real
- Writing chops; clear copy is part of good design
- Pay in the range above, depending on experience
- Remote across the US
- Real ownership: you will ship work customers depend on
- A small, senior team with high standards and little process
We read every application. If there is a fit, expect a short intro call, a practical exercise rooted in the kind of work you would actually do, and a few conversations with the people you would work with. A link to something you have built beats a resume.
