Job Description RoleSenior Structural Designer responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating structural design assignments for industrial and commercial projects. The role includes independent decision-making on design problems, producing construction documents, coordinating inter-discipline efforts, and serving as job captain on single- or multi-discipline projects.
AI and InnovationSSOE provides responsible access to industry large language models and vibe-coding platforms and integrates advanced BIM and AI tools into workflows. Training is provided to leverage AI tools for productivity and streamlining complex workflows.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate medium to major structural design assignments with responsibility for budget adherence, quality control, and inter-discipline coordination.
- Make independent decisions on typical design problems and consult management on unusual or complex issues.
- Produce finished plans and specifications and review major items such as materials, equipment quality, and field construction results.
- Complete major engineering/architectural projects or lead complete design work on smaller to moderate scope projects.
- Serve as job captain for projects; assign and review work of design teams and check progress against scope and schedule.
- Prepare or review construction budgets and cost estimates; write scopes of work and may perform project management functions.
- Represent the firm in meetings and conferences and devise solutions to project problems.
- Travel required; valid driver's license required (may be waived for international assignments).
- Associate degree or certification in engineering or architectural fields preferred.
- Minimum 15 years experience with SSOE as a Designer or 19 years experience with former employer(s).
- Mandatory experience on Industrial and Manufacturing building projects.
- Preferred experience on Data Center and/or Pharmaceutical projects.
- Working knowledge of BIM collaboration and review platforms including ACC/BIM
360, Bluebeam, and Navisworks.
- Competitive salary range: $111,000 - $125,000 per year (dependent on location, education, experience, certifications).
